June 18, 2007, VANCOUVER, BC, Canada – Blackcomb Aviation is pleased to announce it has opened a permanent base on the Sunshine Coast at the Sechelt Municipal Airport.
“The addition of a permanent base on the Sunshine Coast strengthens our capacity to provide service to our utility and other customers already operating in the area,” said Blackcomb Aviation’s President, John Morris. “An existing operator approached us with a viable proposal which enabled us to incorporate their aircraft and operations under the Blackcomb umbrella. We know the area very well and the timing was right for all concerned.”
The Sechelt base will be managed by Garrett Mack, one of British Columbia’s most experienced helicopter pilots. In addition to 16,000+ hours on 9 different helicopter types (with 6000+ hours logged in coastal and mountain terrains), Mr. Mack is a recognized expert in all aspects of hydro flight operations. While Blackcomb Aviation is not releasing the financial particulars of the transaction, the bank financing was provided by Canadian Western Bank. Customers in the area can expect a high level of personal service and aviation expertise with the additional resources of Blackcomb Aviation now available to them.
